Share:
There are many different hairstyles for girls. Have you ever felt that you are drawing an illustration and that you cannot really grasp the features of your hairstyle?

In this course, we will carefully explain how to draw girls' hair by length so that even beginners can easily understand.

Please use it as a reference when drawing character illustrations!

A must-see for beginners! Tips for drawing hair

There are various kinds of hair for girls, such as straight, long and pats. In this course, we will mainly explain how to draw hair by classifying into three types.
  • Long
  • Medium
  • Short

To draw short hair

First, I will explain short hair.

Please use it as a reference when drawing active characters or thinking about characters that like sports.

Inner hair

Inner winding is a hairstyle that makes it easy to create a girlish look even among shortcuts.

When drawing your hair, instead of drawing a single bottle, draw “Okure” and try to be conscious of the fluffy and light image.

In particular, you can create a cute girl's impression by giving a sense of bunch or drawing as fluffy as you go down from the toothpick.

It is recommended hairstyle when drawing a little girl.

Bangs hairstyle

Next is a hairstyle called “pattsun”. Pattsun refers to hair whose bangs are almost aligned.

The trick is not to draw the bangs so that they are very jagged and uneven, but to be conscious not to be too uniform.

Put a little jagged edge on the bangs for a natural look.

Also, the point other than the bangs is how to draw the side.

The first is to imagine a piece of paper and then draw the hair from above. I think that drawing the hair on the side as a piece of paper will make it easier to draw.

Boyish hair

The last short hair is “Boyish”.

A boyish hairstyle is a habitual hairstyle, but if you always draw it with attention to the balance between the toothpick and the whole, you will not be overly messy.

Boyish hair is a hairstyle that goes well with sports and especially active characters.

You can also add character to your character by drawing hair splashes.

For example, character characteristics can be achieved even with the habit of animal ears. Boyish hairstyles allow you to design your hair up, down, left, and right, which is a high degree of freedom for character design.

Tips for drawing straight wave hair

Next, I will introduce a medium hairstyle. I will mainly touch straight and wave drawing methods.

Compared to the short, the width of the design is wider, and you can make a variety of hairstyles.

Straight hair

First of all, I will introduce straight hairstyles.

The feature when drawing a straight is that the part of the hair that touches the shoulder is easy to enter inside, so it is a trick to draw with that in mind.

In the illustration below, this is indicated by the red arrow.

Depending on the character, the hair ends can be splashed outside rather than internally, so it is better to draw differently depending on the character.

By the way, even though it is straight, it has a length of hair compared to short, so you can bring out the character of the character by tying and winding.

Let's also look at waves and arrangements.

Wave hairstyle

Medium's second hairstyle is Wave.

The trick when drawing a wave is to draw the image of a slick paper first and gradually give it a three-dimensional effect as shown in the illustration below.

Start with a simple shape and gradually bring out the hair. It is a good idea to imagine that a lot of paper is growing from the toothpick.

Also, if you draw all the hair with the same movement, it will become unnatural, so if you put the hair on the wave, it will become a natural hairstyle.

Easy arrangement of hairstyles

Next, I will introduce the types of straight and wave hairstyles that I have seen so far.

Since various arrangements can be made, please refer to when drawing illustrations as an example.

Even a simple hairstyle like a straight hair can be devised in various ways such as dividing the bangs diagonally, raising them, and changing the length of the bangs.

Like the hairstyle in the lower right of the illustration below, you can also change the character's impression depending on how you tie the hair.

Add accessories such as pins, ribbons and headbands to create a gorgeous impression.

In this way, you can make the viewer imagine the character of the character just by changing the hairstyle. For example, a character with a forehead gives an image that gives a slightly stronger impression.

Please refer to it when drawing an original character.

How to draw long hair

Finally, I will explain about long hairstyles.

In Long, I will mainly talk about twin tails and ponytails.

Since Long can make a variety of hairstyles that have longer hair than medium, we explain in detail.

Twintail tips

The twin tail has a very characteristic silhouette in the long, and is also a popular hairstyle.

The point in drawing the twin tail is to draw the symmetry of the knot in the left and right directions without breaking it apart.

The tight hair will gather at the knot (bottom illustration: red arrow), so be aware of it.

Even with the same twin tails, the impression changes depending on the volume and height of the hair, so it may be a good idea to explore your preferences.

Some popular characters have hair that is as long as their knees, so it's also a way to characterize your character by trying to make it longer.

How to draw a ponytail

The ponytail is basically the same idea as the twin tail, but there is only one knot behind it, so let's draw it while thinking about the head line.

You can create a character that matches the scene, such as ponytails that are usually used for ponytails.

In addition, when you look sideways, you can make a realistic hair by drawing the hairline firmly. It is also recommended when you want to create a girlhood.

The hairline is smaller than the tied hair, but I like this hairline! There are some people who say, so it is a good idea to draw details.

Straight type

Finally, I will explain the long straight.

In the case of long, the basics are the same as medium, but it is better to reduce the volume so that it does not appear heavy.

The long straight hair seen from the back can be made thinner toward the tip of the hair, or it can be made a certain length with the tip of the hair staggered.

Waves are drawn in almost the same way as medium, but they have the characteristic of waving larger than medium.

Let's draw differently considering the number of waves and the height from which to wave.

Summary

How was it? In the video lecture, as a practical part, we will explain more complicated braids while actually drawing them. please check it!

Palmy also has a course explaining how to apply hair, so please refer to it.
