How to draw a glass window surrounded by trees

How to paint window glass and leaves, how to express the focus blur

This time, we will draw leaves around the window, but the basic color selection is not the large area but the surrounding leaves. It is easier to choose other colors by choosing the brightest color as the reference color. You can choose a natural color by mixing shadow color with this standard color or setting it to a color that is exposed to light.

How to draw windows

Make a window frame base

Since the window frame is made of straight lines, it can be made immediately by using one-point perspective or two-point perspective.

Once you have made the base, apply the shadowed areas so that they appear three-dimensional.

The point that attracts you in three dimensions is to leave a subtle shadow at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical directions. (See image)

Paint the room between the windows. A window frame window is created based on the window perspective line. Create a new layer under the window frame layer, paint it once, use the rectangle selection tool to erase the large square, and then draw the window frame part.

Once all the window frames are complete, draw the glass part. For now, let's paint the glass part with white

Since the glass reflects, the outside scenery is reflected. This time the trees are placed outside, so the trees are also reflected. Let's draw the reflection on the white layer created above. At this point it is sufficient to draw roughly.

I will draw the pattern of the window frame part. First, adjust the color of the window frame. The colors of the trees reflected in the window and the base color of the window frame are mixed to create a greener color. Use a scratchpad when creating colors.

In the same way, adjust the shadow of the window frame.

How to draw a window frame pattern (wood grain)

When you finish adjusting the color of the base of the window frame, draw a pattern. If there is no pattern such as aluminum window frame, this work is unnecessary, but this time we will draw a wooden window frame. Draw wood directly on the layer where you adjusted the color.

Let's make the color of the wood a little closer to the hue than the base color of the window frame. The point of drawing the grain is to make layers with the image of layering colors rather than painting. However, this time, the area to draw the grain is so narrow that if you draw too much, the layers will collapse and look dirty.

As the window frame finishes, adjust it so that it looks a little rattling. This time because the window frame is made of wood, and if it is straight, it looks unnatural and looks unnatural. Create a new layer and adjust it so that the straight line at the border disappears and it looks rattling.

Finish the window glass

I will draw a detailed reflection of the window glass that I finished easily. Use a flat brush to arrange. It is enough to keep the shape understandable because it matches the background better.

Draw the reflection of the glass on the window frame. Let's create a "multiply" layer with a new layer and insert a line with the brush tool. If you draw with the rectangle selection tool or the pen tool, it will become too mechanical, so use the brush tool. If it is a little dark, adjust the opacity.

How to draw trees in the background

Draw trees to be placed in the background. The nearby trees draw clear and trunks, but the trees on the side of the fence are drawn in the same color as the leaves. Let's draw in three layers: foreground, middle, and distant views.

Start with the deepest tree. As with the reflection of the window, use the flat brush tool to draw trees with high brightness. I drew it roughly by drawing the leaves and then drawing the trunk.

If you can draw a cocoon, draw trees in the middle. The drawing method is the same as that of a distant view.

In the foreground, let the tree trunk have a clear outline. Finally, create a new layer on the trunk and draw a leaf in the foreground to complete the background. Perspective comes out by giving shades of color.

Now that you have a background and a window, make fine adjustments. First of all, I changed the color of the trees reflected in the window because the background trees were made greener in blue.

Also, since the glass does not look like glass, let's adjust it a little. Create a layer set that summarizes the glass part of the window, and create a new layer in overlay mode on it and clip it. The color is white, and use a brush or the like to paint the upper part of each window and blur with the blur brush.

Draw shadows under the eaves on the window to give the window (building) a three-dimensional effect. Create a layer set that combines window frames and window glass, create a new layer on top of the layer set using "multiplication", and draw a shadow by clipping. At this time, make sure that the boundary between the shadow and the sun matches the vanishing point. Once the color is applied, adjust the darkness with opacity.

Let's draw a leaf

Since the front is more miserable, I will add leaves. I will draw a branch in front. Use a brush with hard edges to add lines as appropriate. The part that grows the leaves should be drawn up so that it will rise up intentionally.

Draw the leaves. First of all, I draw a leafy silhouette from the leaf located in the middle view while viewing the material.

If you can draw to some extent, let's draw the foreground leaves. In the same way, we will increase the silhouettes like leaves. At this time, it is good to choose a slightly lighter color than the color of the leaves in the middle scene.

Finally, draw the distant leaves with dark eye color.

When you can draw the base of the leaves, add shadows. It's better not to draw the veins on all, so let's draw the veins only on the leaves in the foreground. When drawing veins, it is easy to understand if you draw shadows after drawing highlights.

A simple shadow is added to the middle, far, and branches.

Express camera blur

When you take a picture, there is a part that is blurred. By expressing this in the illustration, the degree of perfection goes up. I will explain how to blur beautifully. From here, you will be working in Photoshop.

The blurring part uses the camera's focus law. The camera is in focus only in front of the camera installation point (line of sight) and in the vertical direction. As you move away from the in-focus surface, the blur increases. Let's add blur while being conscious of this law.

The blur starts from a small place

Since the focus is on the center this time, the left and right windows close to the center are the places where blur is small. I will blur here. Since we want to express the image gradually blurring toward the center, adjust the selection range function to partially blur.

First, surround the area you want to blur with a selection.

Select Change Selection> Blur Border from the menu and enter a number. I entered 200 this time.

Click Menu> Filter> Blur (Lens), and enter a value. Depending on the item, the blur will change depending on the canvas size, so please look for a number that matches your illustration.

I will blur other places. Let's blur the foreground grass with "blur (Gauss)" instead of "blur (lens)". The point is to change the type of blur depending on the location.

Let's add expression of light

Representation of light coming from the window

Let's express the light coming from the window as a finish. Return the work to SAI and add light colors. Create a new layer on top of the indoor layer, quickly paint bright and saturated colors, and after blurring, change the layer mode to "flash" mode.

Draw bokeh

Add bokeh to the trees at the back. One of the camera blur techniques is "ball blur". Is it like a sparkling ball in the illustration? You can do this by setting the color with the pencil tool, changing the layer mode to “light emission”, and adjusting the opacity. This is one of the useful techniques because it looks better for a simple task.

Lens flare expression

Finally, lens flare is expressed. Create a new layer on top and draw lens flare. Lens flare refers to the complex reflection of strong light in the camera lens.

Just draw a rough blue color near the top of the near side and the upper left of the light source, and with the blur tool, blur it with the blur tool, change the layer mode to “flash”, and adjust the opacity.
