About bird's-eye view, eye level and tilt

Where do you see when drawing illustrations? Need to think about. This takes the layout at the time of the first rough drawing, but it is very important to consider the height of this camera when considering the layout.

This kind of camera movement and position is called “camera work”.

In other words, here is the story of the “height” of the camera.

Eye level

It would be normal for you to see other people, such as friends, from the side. Especially if they are the same height.

Seen from the side, not looking up, not looking up. This is called “eye level”.

I think that you usually draw poses from the side when you draw characters. This is the basic eye level.

Since it is basically looking from the side, the eye level when taking a perspective is displayed on the screen.

Because it is often used, you may not be very conscious of it.

If possible, it is good to draw the angle of view, but let's learn carefully from where you are looking first.

Bird's-eye view

Now set the camera up and look down. Let's do that. Something like this. This is called "Overview".

This is the case when looking down on a small child or looking down from the second floor of a building. In this case, the perspective eye level is often set above the screen.

Low Angle

In cinematography, a low-angle shot, is a shot from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up. Sometimes, it is even directly below the subject's feet. Psychologically, the effect of the low-angle shot is that it makes the subject look strong and powerful.

Contrary to the previous case, the child looks up at the parent. The image is like an eye level at the bottom of the screen.

I often draw huge robots in the air and express the power.

Summary

If you draw a character while thinking about the height of the camera in this way, you can change the composition according to the situation.

For example, when you want to explain the situation around you, you can use a bird's-eye view, or if you want to give a sense of realism, power, and fear, you can express it with a tilt.

Also, those who usually draw the eye level next to them will be able to practice and draw the characters seen from above or below from the perspective of practice.

However, if you change the position of the camera, the perspective will become tighter, so you will need to learn the basic perspective, one-point perspective, two-point perspective, and three-point perspective.

Since it will be the basis of the picture, please study firmly. Perspective is very important.

So this time it was about eye level, bird's-eye view, and tilt.

Please take this tilt and bird's-eye view into consideration.
