This is the upper body replication practice situation.

■ How should I practice?

First of all, it is the manager's way of thinking, but first we start by copying a real person (photo, etc.). This is because the details are as detailed and correct as possible in the brain.

Like the face replication, look for the photo to be replicated.
First of all, I tried to copy it roughly. The following is the replication result. As long as the length ratio is known, the face and chest are omitted. The administrator does not draw a shadow when copying. It also serves as an exercise to identify beautiful lines. However, a thin line is put in the part where the line appears relatively.

The model is a woman, but for the breast part, TOP and UNDER are the main lines, referring to the information in the book on how to draw moe. Since it may have shifted, please refer to the reference level. As for the detailed ratio of the chest part, I think it was in the book “How to draw a moe character, face / body”, so please refer to it.

You can also search for photos. What kind of photos should I look for? In the initial practice stage, it is better to copy photos of the body that are not slanted, such as “front” and “beside”, with as large and detailed photos as possible. If it is oblique, the shape will change and the length will be difficult to measure, and the distorted shape will be stored in the brain. And ideally, photos that are n’t posing as much as possible. In the case of managers, we are further focusing on Japanese. Foreigners are good in style, but if you draw moe pictures in the end, I think Japanese people will be more friendly. If you are an administrator, you may be spending more time searching for materials than drawing.

■ Copy while checking the length ratio

When copying, be sure to copy while checking the distance and ratio of each part. If you are an administrator, you will not be able to replicate accurately. Actually, copy while measuring the approximate length with a ruler.

Measuring with a ruler is not a foul, but an important practice. Because the brain has an illusion, the length was different from what I had expected while measuring the actual length. The information and surprises are stored in the brain.

First, copy the outline of the head. I have been worried about how long the neck is, but I can generally grasp it by referring to the length of the face half in (4).

The width of the whole side of the face ② and half the width of the shoulder are roughly the same. The length from the shoulder to the top of the head (1) and the part where the arm bends (waist part) are roughly the same length. Assume that the top of the chest looks like ③.

In the case of the photo copied this time, it was like this. It is an example. This is a versatile ratio. Please note that this is not the case. As you copy many other people's photos, you should get a sense of the actual length. If the ratio is not crazy, there will be no major failure in replication.

At this stage, the ratio is not remembered because it is drawn only once. I would like to practice replication from now on. Maybe it's better not to remember numbers with your head, but to learn while drawing. You can change the person to be copied or copy a photo at a different angle. Since the sensation varies depending on the angle, check the length ratio for each copy. That was the case when copying the face.

■ Sideways copy

One week after the front copying described above, I resumed practicing painting. Next time, try to copy the landscape.

Although it is difficult to see because the image is large, it is a female model. Since the face is omitted and copied, it may be different from the actual one. In practice when drawing people, you basically don't draw the chest. This is because the fuselage line is lost. So it may look a little strange. But this is true. As long as you know the lines of the torso, it seems that you can draw as you like (from the Moe-e book).

Since we have confirmed the approximate ratio at the time of front copying, the explanation of ratios ① and ② will be omitted. The waist line (near the part where the arm bends) is the standard for the upper body considered by the manager. Note that this is not a navel position. The position of the navel is at the position of ⑤.

First is the vertical line ③. It is to the right of the center of the head. This is the ear standard. The copy is not precise, so it's almost like this. Please think. When studying by yourself, do not look at the pictures of the custodians, look for real photos and copy them. The line ③ is probably the center of gravity.

I'm pretty hungry. This is not fat, but the belly sledges forward. This is shown in the vertical line (4). Around the back of the ear. The line in front of the arm overlaps here. Pass the back part of the waist. In the copy, I can't see it hidden behind my arms, but I drew the lines of my body thinly with fantasy. It may be good to have you pay special attention to the waist.

Next is line ⑥. A vertical line extending from the front of the neck. It seems that this line passes through the center of the waist. To the last, it is almost. As you can see from this, it is in a posture with the stomach in the front. I was able to learn that. In this copied posture, the shoulder is pulled slightly backwards, so I think that it is a posture with power on the shoulder. I think that this will be cooler.

■ Back-facing replication

I also did a backward-facing copy. The manager rarely practices two pictures a day. Basically it is one per week. However, I want to practice moe painting early, so I am a little impatient. When you make a moe picture, the body lines are soft and deformed. Therefore, I want to practice people properly.

If a beginner is suddenly daydreaming and asked if he can draw the picture below, he will probably not be able to draw. However, once you do it, you can draw directly from your fantasy after copying. This is because the brain learns ratios and fine curves. So, it is better to use a ruler and copy it while measuring the approximate length and ratio. By doing so, it is remembered in the brain.

I understood that the ratio is the same as the frontal copy. I can't draw the back part because I can't see it with clothes, but there seems to be no particularly important elements. This time, the neck was fresh. It looks like this from the back. Also, it was a little practice for my arm.

■ Try to draw from an angle

The next day after copying the back picture. I wanted to draw a moe early so I couldn't wait for a week. I was looking for a document to begin to practice copying the center of the torso. However, unexpectedly, I couldn't find any photos that would be helpful for me. The ratio will be crazy if it is not a front picture, so if you do not find such a picture, you cannot put it into practice.

If the image is from above, it cannot be used for basic practice. However, a summary of torso practice. So I decided to try to replicate the upper half of the body.

By simply performing the three-way replication exercises that we have done so far, we have been able to easily perform replications that are difficult to perform at an angle. The above figure is a rough drawing for copying, but the line was not so crazy.

As I learned this time, when looking from the top, the center axis is shifted downward, so care must be taken when taking the ratio. The ratio must be calculated not from the top line of the head, but from below.

And I was expecting that the navel area was dented, but in fact it was exactly the opposite, humping forward. It turned out that. You can see that in the pants line.

After all, there are many things that you will not notice unless you draw a picture. In addition, it seems better to practice copying from various directions such as diagonally backward. However, in order to rush and draw a moe picture, I would like to move on to practice the middle part of the fuselage. I think drawing practice will be repeated many times, so I think it would be good to gradually improve the quality. It's bad that you can't draw your hand or lower body at all, so you have to draw it all.

From the next time, we will begin to practice the middle part of the body. This is the end of upper body practice.
